Is Childs Farm Baby Moisturizer Safe To Use?

All products created go through an extensive clinical trial that tests the safety of the products. The products are tested in controlled and independent home user trials on newborns and children who have been diagnosed with infantile eczema to ensure that the product is safe to use. This way of safety testing is conducted by an international research company. Any and all results gathered from there testing are shared and universally recognized. The people the company hires to conduct these tests are testing experts and follow a standard, approved, scientific protocol. This protocol consists of 96-hour patch tests on a selection of healthy men and women of all ages who may be prone to or have eczema. The results obtained from this test are then analyzed by dermatologists and pediatricians. If both doctors conclusively believe the results satisfy their criteria, then and only then can the product be approved. After this tedious process is completed, the product can then be safely used on babies and children of all skin types.

FAQs regarding the product…

With any product that claims to do a certain thing, questions come up that are frequently asked. People considering using Childs Farm Moisturiser for either their baby or themselves ask the following questions regarding this product:

1. Are your products suitable for newborn babies?

“All Childs Farm products are suitable for newborns and upwards other than our sun care which is for babies and upwards. In line with the NHS guidance, we recommend all babies under 6 months be kept out of the sun entirely and therefore do not recommend using our sunscreen products on babies under 6 months of age. We recommend that you carry out a patch test 24 hours before using any product for the first time.”

2. Are your products suitable for skin prone to eczema?

“All Childs Farm products are dermatologist and pediatrician approved as suitable for sensitive skin and safe for people who may be prone to eczema. However, Childs Farm products are not a medicine or a treatment for eczema.”

3. Are your products suitable for adults?

“Yes. Because of the gentle make-up of the products, many adults use Childs Farm products because they don’t want harsh chemicals on their skin. We recommend that you carry out a patch test 24 hours before using any product for the first time.”

4. Are your products tested on animals?

“Absolutely not! We love animals and we are proud to have been awarded the Leaping Bunny certification by Cruelty-Free International, which confirms that our products are cruelty-free. Our products are only ever tested on children and parents.”

“The Leaping Bunny is the globally recognized gold standard for cruelty-free cosmetics, personal care, household, and cleaning products and demonstrates that a brand is genuinely committed to removing animal testing from its supply chain.”

5. Are your products suitable for vegans?

“All our Childs Farm products are suitable for vegans with the exception of our strawberry and mint hair conditioner and our hair detangler, which both contain honey.”

6. Are your products gluten-free?

“All our products are gluten-free with the exception of the Strawberry and Organic Mint Conditioner, Sensitive Scalp Unfragranced Conditioner, Organic Fig Conditioner, Organic Tangerine Baby Bedtime Bubbles, Baby Oaty Bubbles, Organic Coconut Baby Oil, Organic Tangerine Bubble Bath, Organic Raspberry Bubble Bath, Blueberry and Mango Bubble Bath, Grapefruit and Tea Tree Hand Wash, SPF 50+ Sun Cream, Spray and Roll On, SPF 30 Sun Cream, Spray and Roll-On, and the Grapefruit and Tea Tree Hair detangler which contain Hydrolysed Wheat Protein and/or Tocopherol.”

7. Are your products 100% organic?

“Childs Farm products are not organic but contain naturally derived ingredients. Most Childs Farm products typically contain around 96% of Soil Association permitted ingredients. This means we know we’re using quality, robustly tested ingredients from the outset. We pride ourselves on being a fully inclusive brand, and to be 100% organic would have made our price point so high that our range would have been beyond the reach of many mums, dads and their children.”

8. Do you use perfume (fragrance) in your products?

“With regards to the perfume in our products, perfume is a term used to describe any naturally derived or synthetically derived fragrance used in a product. Where possible we try to use natural essential oils to fragrance our products and will only use essential oils that can be put undiluted on to a baby’s skin without harming it.”

“However, there are occasions where we have to use synthetically derived fragrance, such as the strawberry in our strawberry and mint shampoo. This doesn’t mean that the synthetically derived fragrances are harmful it just means that, for example, our strawberry and mint shampoo doesn’t have actual strawberries in it.”

9. Do I need to patch test?

“All of our products are formulated to be extremely gentle. They are dermatologist and pediatrician approved for use on children and newborn babies, including those with sensitive skin and safe for people who may be prone to eczema. However, as a common-sense precaution, we always recommend a patch test be carried out at least 24 hours prior to first use of any new product. The best places to test are inside the upper arm and behind the ear – don’t patch test on the skin that’s already irritated. Take a look at our video on the best way to patch test!”

10. Do your products contain nuts and seeds?

“Our products do not contain any nuts, although some Childs Farm products contain coconut oil and argan oil. These are not classified as nuts in the UK but are in the US so if you have any concern about these, we do recommend that you speak to your doctor or a medical professional.”

“Our products do not contain any seeds although we do use some seed oils, such as sunflower seed oil. We always recommend patch testing the products if your child has an allergy as some of the raw materials are supplied by manufacturers who also manufacture materials containing nuts and seeds.”

“Products and ingredients may also change over time so we recommend checking the label before purchasing and using any product. Please do contact us at enquiries@childsfarm.com if you’d like information for specific products or ingredients and our team will be happy to share this with you!”
