Applying ginger to skin as a treatment for eczema has both short-term and long-term effects. It can relieve the heat, pain, and inflammation of an eczema flare-up in the short-term, and when taken daily or applied regularly can help build stronger skin.

Skin Mask

Grated a small piece of ginger with 2 tablespoons of manuka honey and one teaspoon of lemon juice, and refrigerate until cool. You can apply this as a mask on your face or other parts of your body affected by eczema and leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse gently off.

Massage Oil

Eczema Crush

Blend a small piece of ginger with a few ice cubes and then gently rub this crush onto your skin. It cools and soothes the skin and can help to gently remove the dead and dry skin as well.

Ginger Bath

Take a piece of ginger around 3cm thick and slice it into about 1 ½ cups water in a small saucepan. Bring to the boil and then simmer for around 20 minutes.

Mix this water with your bath. Make sure that the bath water, especially for children with eczema, is not hot but just comfortable.

Soak in the bath for around 20 minutes. There is no need to rinse this water off, just gently towel dry.

Soaking in a ginger bath can also reduce cold and flu symptoms!

Ginger Tea

Drinking ginger tea every day can help boost your immune system and reduce the effects of eczema, as well as strengthening your skin. My favorite is Vahdam Herbal Tea 100% natural

Ginger and Honey Drink

Ingredients

  • 1-2 inches peeled, fresh turmeric
  • 2 inches peeled, fresh ginger
  • 1 garlic clove peeled 
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 1 serving collagen powder
  • 1 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Boil the kettle and let the water start to cool while you prepare the other steps.
  2. Place all the ingredients in a blender, adding the collagen last to stop it from clumping
  3. Blend until smooth
  4. Drink warm

Final Thoughts

Ginger alone will not cure your eczema but it can help manage and reduce the symptoms which is half the battle with eczema. Having products and especially natural ones can only help you control flare-ups and reduce itching.
